A favorite shape is the "U". It is great for any size kitchen. It is functional and efficient. In order to select this build you will need at least 10 feet of width. 5 Things to Do With a Toddler When the Weather is Bad

5 Things to Do With a Toddler When the Weather is Bad

There are regularly lots of things to do with a toddler when the weather exterior is nice - go for a walk, go to the park, play in the yard and so on.

5 Things to Do With a Toddler When the Weather is Bad

5 Things to Do With a Toddler When the Weather is Bad

But what about those days when it is pouring rain, or in the middle of a winter cold-spell, or while a summer heat wave? What then?

Here are 5 great ideas for things to do with a toddler when you just can't be outside.

Number 1 - Visit the communal library - and not to read books. Take your toddler to the library. Many libraries in cities across North America have 'Kids' play and recognize areas. For example, in our city - most of the Hamilton communal Library locations have an area where your toddler can play until they get tuckered out. They have a petite train set up for playing, a puppet stage for those aspiring actors, puzzles galore. Its Free and a great way to spend an active hour with your child.

Number 2 - Visit a child museum. I was amazed how many fun and curious things there are to see and do at a children's museum. And you may be pleasantly surprised to find out that there is one in your city or a colse to city. Just go on-line and in your favourite search engine like Google or Yahoo type in children museum.

The children museum in our city has big blocks to play with, musical instruments to experiment with, a paint room with aprons (it still will be messy - but so what it's fun), rocks with fossils to feel and see, fish tanks, colouring stations, and a whole bunch more. It may not be free in your city but it will not cost very much. Check it out for great fun with your child.

Number 3 - Visit a firm furnish store like Staples or a big box store like Costco or Sam's Club. I know you must be thinking how much fun can that be. Most of our Kids like to ride in a shopping cart. So when it's not so nice exterior I head off to one of these shop and put my guy in the cart and we can spend up to an hour walking the aisles. We stop to pick up something colourful - like a pad of coloured sticky notes. We feel them, we smell them and then we put them back. A bit unusual but still loads of fun!

Number 4 - Go grocery shopping. The trick here is that this is not the time to buy a long list of groceries - just buy a few things. This is an outing for focusing on your baby and experiencing all the things in the store. Pop your toddler in the shopping cart and look at the Green peppers, the Red peppers, hold a box of Kleenex, shake a box of macaroni, feel the roughness of a kiwi, and so on.

Number 5 - Visit a restaurant for a snack. One of my favourite things to do is to visit a coffee shop or even a McDonald's for a snack. This outing will work at any restaurant that has a high chair and sells somewhat healthy food - such as a muffin. We do this once a week - go to one of the other outings mentioned above and then head to a Williams Coffee Shop of a McDonald's. I order a muffin for sharing, a glass of ice water for sipping and a coffee for me. I put my guy in a high chair, and we enjoy sharing the muffin and let him convention sipping water out of a glass - no sippy cups here - slurping the water down his shirt is part of the fun.

There is regularly lots of habitancy to look at, music playing in the background and great firm sharing a snack with each other. It can't be any better than this - food, fun and great company.

These are 5 ideas that work for us. Use this as a beginning point and originate your own adventures with your child - even when it's not so nice outside.

Creating studying Centers for Preschoolers

Creating studying Centers for Preschoolers

Many early childhood preschool classrooms are set up in a very particular way. Studying centers or corners are areas in the room that characterize a particular component of the curriculum. There are many distinct types of Studying centers and to keep children curious these should be changed and even rotated periodically. Here are some ideas for Studying centers. If you only have space for 2 or 3 centers then just convert them colse to periodically. This will keep the children very curious in exploring new centers. These can even be created in the child's home with some creativity on the parents' part.

Creating studying Centers for Preschoolers

Creating studying Centers for Preschoolers

Creating studying Centers for Preschoolers

Creating studying Centers for Preschoolers

Creating studying Centers for Preschoolers

These extra Studying centers are important for so many developmental reasons as you will read below but the best part is that while free play time the children can feel independent and will have something fun to do. They will gravitate to an area of interest for them. Some Kids love science while others may love the pretend play area and yet others may feel musically inclined on a given day. Another child may just want to curl up with a pillow and a popular book. As teachers of preschoolers it is reassuring to know that the children are busy and safe while you tend to a sick child, feed a baby or do some valuable paperwork.

Free play time is invaluable to children. It allows them freedom of choice and independence. They can interact with their peers and sound and express themselves - say what they are mental and feeling. They learn to compromise and negotiate and gain a respect for the ideas of others. They also take on roles of follower and leader. Socialization does not just come simply to children - they must custom it over and over and Studying centers are the best place to do just that!

Using all of these interest areas in your weekly or monthly them creates what is called a 'whole language' experience. On the preschool level it simply means integrating literacy into other areas of the curriculum, especially math, science, and social studies. For example if your theme is "Apples' you can have something connected to apples in any of the centers. In Science projection you can have apple seeds glued to an index card and labeled or a basket with 4 distinct varieties of apples to compare; in math projection there can be more apple seeds to count or a basket of fresh apples that will be used for snack or a baking scheme after counting and making groups with first; in the Art center you can have red paint and apples cut in half to make star-print paintings or make apple prints with an apple shaped cookie cutter; in Reading projection you can read the story of Johnny Appleseed, Snow White or How Apple Trees Grow, etc...

Science Corner:

This area is ever-changing with the seasons. You can fill this Studying center with an unending variety of things connected to science and nature. Books connected to weather, insects, seasons, flowers and plants, seeds, animals, rocks, age-appropriate experiments, etc... Are important in this center. Small containers and jars to hold collections of items that the children may find exterior should be ready for things like rocks, leaves, pinecones, seeds, flowers and plants, some stuffed animals, ladybugs and other insects (real or rubber Toys). Tools such as magnifying glasses, binoculars, eye-droppers, microscopes and kaleidoscopes, mirrors and magnets, as well as paper and pencils help children explore.

If you have space some real plants or live pets might be included such as a butterfly organery in springtime or a real lizard or hamster. As you convert themes you can convert items each month or week. Surprising the children is most fun in this area - for instance they can suddenly explore a new pet goldfish or a bowl filled with dirt and real worms or a Ziploc bag filled with ice cubes! This is the real curiosity corner!

Math Corner:

This projection could be combined with the Science projection or remain separate. Some things to consist of would be calculators, large numbers to finger trace, rulers, tape measures, coins, beads or plastic chips (like poker chips) to count (be rigorous of toddlers trying to put them in their mouths), small scales, plastic measuring cups and spoons, and things to weigh. Counting books and paper and pencils and child-safe scissors again are important for children to use as they wish.

Housekeeping or Dress-Up Corner:

Children will spend much of their free time playing in this center. This is where they custom and pretend to be anything they want to be. Play-acting and role-playing are a very important part of child's play. Here children custom their social skills and "try on" a variety of distinct roles that help them make sense of their world. This will be your largest center and will need lots of props. Some of the larger items may be a child-sized table and chair set, a pretend kitchen with dishes, pots and pans, a shopping cart and Toy cash register with play money, a baby stroller, dolls, a tool workshop, mirrors, telephones, and such. Dress-up clothing can consist of anything from commercially purchased costumes of society helpers to homemade items such as aprons, all types of hats, shoes and props. Children love to play with real life size props just as much as children's pretend ones so mixing it up will work great. Thrift stores and second-hand clothing shops are filled with all kinds of astonishing items to add to your housekeeping corner. Ask for donations from parents as well as check out the local yard sales for bargains.

Art Center:

Art for Preschoolers allows for expression of artistic creativity. This center can be very colorful and bright, filled with art work, color posters and art supplies. Some items to consist of and rotate out are a variety of paper (construction, tracing, newsprint, scraps, etc.), markers, children's scissors, crayons, water paint sets, glue, popsicle sticks, glitter, an Easel, art smocks (or old adult sized T-shirts) to safe clothing, water cups and paint brushes. A fun thing to have in the art center is a basket or shoe box filled with a variety of collage materials that the children can use anytime to generate or add-on to their creations. Some items to consist of are feathers, pom-poms, old buttons and beads, rick-rack, streamers, foil, wax paper, pieces of fabric, toilet paper tubes, pipe cleaners, tissue paper, coffee filters, strings and ribbons, color samples from the paint store, etc. Not all supplies should be accessible to the children as some require supervision but the basics should be there for free-art activities.

Manipulative center (or Block Corner):

This area is important for construction small or fine motor skills and should includes blocks, games, puzzles and things that children need to use their fingers with. Learn-to-dress boards that have zippers, shoelaces, buttons and snaps are great as well as items of clothing with this type of closure. consist of lacing cards and all sizes of beads or pasta noodles like ziti to string.

Music projection or Center:

This is a fun projection too! You can fill it with all kinds of Toy band instruments such as drums, horns, maracas, keyboards, flutes, whistles, xylophones, band leader hats and batons and more. Children love to explore rhythm and sounds and although it may just sound like Noise it does teach and serve a purpose. Rhythm is a difficult skill to scholar and helps build coordination. In this projection you can also have a Cd player with a microphone and a library of music the children can sing and dance to or just listen to while an art activity.

Reading Corner:

(This one is my favorite!) This is the area where your treasured books are. Children that are exposed to books at an early age come to be readers for life. You can build a very nice preschool library over time. Schoraly Book Clubs has a club just for preschoolers so you could sign up for that online and get free books from each order you place. How it works: You give each house a monthly flyer and they order books straight through your club. You can place the group order online or mail it in. Each month Schoraly will give you free books that you earn from your groups order. They also offer very reasonable books as low as . Schoraly has books for every theme in your preschool curriculum. You can find books at yard sales, eBay, thrift shops and library sales. All the time check the clearance center at your local bookstore too. Some other props to place in this area might be a rocking chair and some floor pillows and be sure that it is well-lit. A recording device and a flannel board are great tools for storytelling and re-telling. Request children to re-tell a story is a great way to build literacy skills such as sequencing, memory and information observation. You can bring props in from other corners to highLight a story you are reading. For example: use a mirror, a witch hat and an apple when reading 'Snow White.

So, as you see this is a great way to generate a fun Studying environment for preschoolers. It can be ever-changing to reflect your themes, the seasons or holidays as well as daily play. Have fun creating your own curiosity corners!

protect Your costly Back From Heavy Loads With Hand Carts

Back pain is a major qoute in the United States. It causes unhappiness and costs money in healing payments and missed work. You may think that back injuries are caused only by the trauma of an accident, but that is not always true. Back pain can occur over time when tiny stresses build up. The most tasteless cause of these tiny stresses is the carrying of heavy objects every day. Adults carry heavy laptops, brief cases, and shopping bags. Children carry heavy backpacks and book bags. There is a easy solution to this problem. This solution was invented thousands of years ago: the wheel. We need to put our heavy loads on wheels. Many types of hand carts are ready to take your load off your shoulders. A collapsible hand cart makes it easy to get your load from here to there.

One of the heaviest loads that we have to carry is the suitcase. Suitcases were put on wheels in the middle of twenty and thirty years ago. The first query is, "Why did it take so long for someone to put wheels on suitcases?" Think back to the days before wheels. A full suitcase can weigh a lot, and carrying this weight can cause a hard pull on the bones and muscles of the shoulders and upper back. The only way to cope luggage in a safe manner was to pay a porter or, later, a skycap to put the luggage on a push cart along with the luggage of other citizen to get it where it needed to go. These tips increased the cost of travel.

The next heavy load to be given wheels is the laptop. For years after laptops became a tasteless tool of the enterprise person, they were carried on the shoulder. A heavy weight on the shoulder pulls on the muscles there and in the upper back. While laptops are getting smaller and Lighter, wheels on the computer bag get the weight off the shoulder on the ground to be pulled behind. These new wheeled computer bags are large sufficient to carry all other paraphernalia that the enterprise someone might need while a busy day, such as binders, notepads, the phone, and other needed office supplies, or even a change of underwear.

Thirty or more years ago, young students began to stow their schoolbooks in backpacks. But these backpacks hold more than just books. The pupil needs notebooks, pens and pencils, a calculator, keys, and, of course, lunch. Textbooks are heavy, and school Kids are small. The best way to carry a backpack is with both straps on the shoulders. However, most Kids find it more suitable and "cool" to use only one strap. A properly worn backpack puts a lot of stress on the small bodies of the students, but a singular strap is even more harmful. These growing backs need the safety of a backpack on wheels.

If we look back, though, we can see that wheels are not a new innovation on all carry-alls. The wheeled grocery cart can be traced back to the first half of the Twentieth Century. Women without cars knew it was impossible to carry the groceries for the week without some type of cart.
